Adam Alter Response

During the Skype call, Adam alter had definitely answered some of the questions that I had after reading his book, one being his opinion on online educational tools. He said that he felt that tools like Quizlet, was in his opinion, one of the best parts of technology. This was one of the bigger questions that I had. He also highlighted that the book was less controversial than he thought it would be, because he used the word “addiction” to describe a new form of addiction other than a substance addiction. He wrote the book with the intent of being more controversial than it actually was.
I thought this was interesting, because although the book seemed to have good intent to educate people about technology addiction, he knew that through educating, while trying to make a positive change, that people would get angry about it, because nobody likes being told that they essentially have an “addiction” which is a word typically associated with a negative connotation.
