One of the best parts of this talk was when he was talking about how he felt that his most significant case, was his affirmative action case. In a society that struggles with recognition of racial issues and discriminatory actions toward certain races in society, it makes me feel good, to see that a supreme court justice views one of his cases that pertains to that issue, one of his most significant cases. Another point he made, was when he was talking about the people's reaction to Trump’s election, as a democrat. The interviewer asked him about what he thought of the backlash, and he felt that even though he wasn’t a trump supporter, that the reaction he had received, was unfair. He then proceeded to compare the situation to when Gore lost to bush, people didn't go crazy about bush like they did about trump. I thought that could have provided a different perspective to people who might have gone on a rant after trump had been elected.
I also found it interesting that he later talked about how he felt that there should be an age limit on justices in the supreme court. I totally agree with this statement. I think that an individual should have a certain amount of experience in justice before even being considered for this position. But not only do i think there should be an age limit from the young end of the age perspective. I think that once justices reach a certain age, that they should be removed from the position, because unfortunately things like brain issues and other things happen to an older person that might affect their morals, ethics, and decision making ability, and those are values that should be sharp in a justice's mind, while holding a position on the supreme court.
