Through Oneika’s visit to Watkinson, I learned that people shouldn't be afraid to travel somewhere just because something bad has happened there in the past. This is an issue that I feel people often struggle with, me falling in that category. In the past I have been skeptical of family members going to certain european countries like England for example, simply based off of all the events that occurred there late last year and earlier this year. In the future, I will try to look at certain countries with an open eye, and give them a fair shake, because honestly it's not like America is the safest country either. She also taught a valuable lesson to our class. When she told the story of when her and her husband had met that man who wanted to show them around, and she did not want anything to do with that man, and in the end she ended up really appreciating the person who he was. That whole message seems really important, just as a human being. I think that it really captures the essence of the cliche saying of not judging a book by its cover and even tho everyone says it, it's very true.
